Talent Pioneer saw first mail sack delivered.

On March 17, 1881, Mary Carey saw the first mail sack thrown from the stage coach at the small shanty A P Talent had built to serve as a post office.  The town was named after him, and the school house, was erected close by south of the Jackson county farm.  She knew many of the early pioneers including Welborn Beeson who acted as interpreter for the Indians.
