Mr. Gore was born on the Gore donation land claim farm between Medford and Phoenix on October 30, 1861. He was one of 10 children in a family active in the religious and musical life of the valley. The family helped establish both the Phoenix and Medford Presbyterian churches. With his three brothers they formed a quartet that frequently sang at church.
