Criterion Saloon Jacksonville, business card for S. E. Dunington and William Deneff. The Saloon was apparently located at the corner of North and California and its name changed to Marble Corner Saloon after it was remodeled to add marble slabs to the new entrance and marble floors. (SOHS book, History of Liquor in Jacksonville, 979.5285 G54 1961, p. 9)

Featuring a marble-tiled entry, the saloon served city patrons until well into the 20th Century.
Someone looking for the  location of Frederick Ritschard’s watch/clock shop found that on Dec 29, 1880 (Oregon Sentinel) he says he’s moving to the “room next door to Noland & McDaniel’s saloon.”  On Jan 14, 1880 an ad is found in the Oregon Sentinel advertising the “Criterion Billiard Saloon on California Street, Noland & McDaniel Props.”  So, it was in business in 1880 and on California Street.
