Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey

Notes

The experience of women on the journey West was quite different than that of men, and this book was one of the first to address women as a part of the movement West. Schlissel includes excerpts from the diaries of Catherine Haun, Lydia Allen Rudd, Jane Gould Tourtillott, and a reference analysis grid for them all. She also has a large bibliography of women's overland diaries and other primary sources, an incredible resource for other researchers.
